Research Paper Proposal

I would like to write about The Wizard of Oz. This is because there is a lot to analyze and look deeper into in the film. I could even look into watching the movie while listening to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. There could be an immense amount to look up about the movie also.

Miller's Crossing Screening Report

Miller's Crossing was your typical gangster movie. Two different groups of gangster were trying to take each other out and gain more control over the other. The middle man in the whole movie ended up being Tommy. He worked for Leo got kicked out of that side and worked for Casper. Tommy was a very bright man and knew what he was doing the whole time. Tommy ended up saving Leo and getting Casper killed. It was the work of a mastermind.

Marnie Screening Report

In Marnie one of the biggest references to an inanimate object was to colors. There were some times where multiple colors were brought to the attention of the audience, but the most recognizable color was red. This would turn out to play a major role in the movie.

The time that stood for the first sighting of the red flowers is when Marnie was at her mother's house. She notices that there is a vase with red gladiolas in it. The screen flashes red a few times signifying a fear of the color. She makes sure she quickly gets rid of them and she replaces them with the flowers she had brought with her.

The color red puts Marnie in a vulnerable state of mind. When she sees this color she tends to freak out and goes into another world. This world was caused by something in her past. Mr. Rutland after the marriage notices that certain things bother Marnie. He is set to find out. So one day she was having her nightmare of her past and Mr. Rutland comes in on it and wakes her up. He gets out of her that red is her trigger. So when she decides to run away again he wrapped the money with red paper bands. Eventually this would lead to him taking Marnie to her mother's house and her finding out what had been causing all her distress. She finds out that she had killed someone that was trying to hurt her mother. All the noises and sights of that night trigger all the problems Marnie had been having. This is why the color red is so important to the movie.
